Nick Davies, founder and visionary, has visited over 80 countries and has notched up 40-years’ of experience in hotels and in travel around the globe. The driving focus of the company was simple. Offer travel professionals an efficient, courteous and quality focused service backed up by team members who are all passionate about travel. Darah Travel today has become one of Belize’s most respected tourism entities.
Darah Travel offers a complete range of accommodations, transfers, and touring options to singles, couples, families, events, destination weddings, and small and mid-sized groups to travel trade worldwide. We also offer the entire region from Mexico down to Panama through our regional partners and create tailor-made itineraries as well as.
And about the name, the company is named after their daughter Darah who is now starting her love of travel and supporting the company initially with marketing and digital help while still finishing her education. Please meet the beautiful people behind Darah Travel.
Nick was born and raised in West Africa, where his parents were working for many years, educated in the UK, and has worked in Europe, the Caribbean, Canada, Central America and South America in travel, hotels and tourism for over 40 years.
His career, highlighted by working in hotels and travel, across several continents, has taken him to over 80 countries, and he arrived in Belize after living and working the previous 11 years in the Dutch Caribbean. He opened the first uber luxurious jungle lodge in Belize, the first of its kind at that time. Afterwards, he met the love of his life, Shannon, who is from the capital city Belmopan, and decided to set up Darah Travel, which is named after their daughter.
The plan was simple – Set up an agency fuelled by passionate and expert travel professionals, and offer visitors and travel partners a top-quality service and many memorable experiences.

Today, the 3 key managers each have over 10 years working at Darah Travel. Nick and Shannon could not be any prouder than when they meet travel companies worldwide at shows, to be quickly told how amazing the Darah Travel team is at delivering a perfect trip to every customer , from leadership,travel planners, logistics, guides and accounting.
The family now share their time between the UK and Belize, so from our family – Nick, Shannon, Jaegan, Danai and of course Darah, who are all involved in some way or other in the business, please allow us to introduce our extended family and the real ‘rock stars’ of Darah Travel.
Shannon Davies
Director (2010)
Shannon has been involved in owning her own businesses in: travel, hotels, baking, food manufacturing, and even a fuel station ! She has worked in International banking and is an award winning journalist, created the countries first reality TV show, and has read the news on national television in Belize. She is addicted to travel and supports the office behind the scenes with legal, financial and travel advice support. She has managed to juggle business and raising 3 children, the apples of her eye, and represents the company at travel shows around the globe. She is fluent in English and Spanish and is Belizean/British.
Nick Davies
Director / Travel Trade (2010)
Nick is the visionary and founder of Darah Travel and Darah Transfers and Tours. Nick has an intense passion and zen for everything related to travel. He has opened and managed luxury resorts and travel companies in Europe, the Caribbean, North and Central America and provides the dynamic drive to keep Darah Travel as the premium travel partner in Belize. He provides travel trade support and he speaks Fluent English and gets by well in : Dutch, Spanish, Papiamentu and German, and is currently learning 9 other languages ! You will most likely meet Nick at a travel show or event somewhere on the globe soon! Nick is British/Belizean.
Darah Davies
Travel guru in the making! (2010)
Darah is finishing school next year and has designs on becoming a Doctor! Even at her tender age, she has already visited 10 countries and notched up many tour experiences. She continues to explore Belize and will spend time in the Darah Travel office in the summer holidays. Darah is talented at graphic design, is a nail artist and loves science at school and you may soon get to meet her at shows! She is keeping her options open to join the family business after her degree but seeing where things take her. Darah speaks fluent English, and some French and Spanish and is Belizean/British.
Jennie Aguilar
General Manager (2012)
Jennies’ journey into travel has been full of milestones. During her tenure, she has become a wife and the mother of two beautiful children. She has nurtured Darah Travel into the successful and caring travel partner it is today. Her calm, welcoming and efficient approach to planning and keeping the “show on the road” in all seasons, has created the benchmark by which the company is known. Jennie boasts she has two families; her own and Darah Travel! Successfully balancing both, she is loved and admired by her family, colleagues and travel partners worldwide. Jennie is fluent in both English and Spanish.
Wendy Cornelio
Travel Manager (2015)
Wendy has diligently worked her way up to her position as Travel Manager and is brilliant at keeping up with the demand for trips to Belize. She believes time waits on no one, and is known in the office and among our travel partners for her quick quote turn around times. She enjoys creating unique itineraries and seeing them come to life, knowing that clients will be making life long memories. Wendy is our ‘zinger’ and ‘go getter’, and her dynamic energy lights up the office every day. Her hobbies include exploring Belize with her family, being a mum and listening to her favourite reggae music! Wendy is fluent in both English and Spanish.
Mark Magana
Operations & Logistics Manager (2014)
Mark started with the company on a part time basis back in 2014 while finishing his studies at the University of Belize. We knew from the beginning he was a keeper! He is incredibly detailed and does an amazing job in handling all the moving parts of each client itinerary before and while our client’s travel. Whether it’s just keeping in touch with guest or assisting clients in country he enjoys each interaction with guests and enjoys making their life easier so they can fully enjoy their stay. Outside of work, he enjoys the IT side of life and likes working with computers and technology. When he isn’t at the beach enjoying martinis on his time off, he enjoys listening to all genres of music, but his ultimate favourite is lively Soca music. Mark is fluent in English.
Tamara Kerr
Travel Specialist (2024)
Tamara studied tourism and has worked in the industry for over 10 years. She has brought authenticity and passion into her work creating premium quality itineraries and believes that each trip created is a story waiting to be told to the clients. Honesty and reliability are the cornerstones of her work ethic, and her relentless hardworking nature ensures that no detail is overlooked. Beyond her professional endeavors, Tamara’s heart belongs to her two sons and her spirit is lifted by music, dance, and the magic of movies. She is Fluent in English and Creole, one of the rich vibrant languages of Belize.
Jaegan Harrison
Travel Specialist (2024)
The son of Shannon and ‘bonus’ son of Nick, Jaegan assists in the office in several departments when he has time from his University Economics degree. He is funny, enthusiastic, well-travelled and has been successful in a military career before deciding to return to his studies. Jaegan spent 3 years in the US Coast Guard Academy followed by 3 years active service in the Belize Coast Guard where he excelled in several fields of the service. He supports all team members as required. In his spare time, he keeps bees and grows various crops on his farm. Jaegan speaks fluent English and good Spanish.
Sophie Diaz
Operations Assistant (2025)
Sofie is the newest of the Darah Travel family, and expertly supports Mark as Operations Assistant. She is responsible for ensuring accurate itineraries for our clients. Sofia has sound business savvy with four years managing her small bakery business and she is known for her attention to detail and commitment to quality. In her personal time, Sofy serves as an adjunct board member and volunteers for her local humane society striving to improve the quality of life for citizens and animals. She is fluent in English.
Gabriel Lewis
Accounts (2024)
Gabriel is multi-talented and ensures that all our amazing suppliers are paid promptly for services provided to your clients. His accounting skills have all been learned in his position and in addition, he provides important weekly checks on all our fleet vehicles, ensuring they are in a top tip condition. He is very detailed and precise, something so necessary in his line of work. He loves music and sports and he plays the drums and basketball. His goal is to be a better version of himself, progressing onwards and upwards. He is an avid adventurer and loves hiking, swimming, and wildlife. Gabriel is fluent in English and knows some Spanish.
